by ED!Z on 28.5.08

Recently Goa has been blessed with some awesome internet speeds, but not many are making optimum utilization of these speeds. If one is offered with 2 mbps, he shouldn’t waste time in other mediocre practices like eating and breathing. Instead he should use this time to go on a downloading rampage.

Now there are few who want to make use of this God-sent gift, but don’t know how to. And among many different ways to download goodies over the net, the most effective and satisfying one is ‘Torrents’. And the best part of torrents is that it’s FREE! So without any further due, I present to you:-

Vandalism feels goooood…

by ED!Z on 2.5.08

It was just a regular day. Joel, Milind, Sameer, Jean (a friend of Milind’s from Holland) and yours truly decided to go for the Chelsea vs. Liverpool watch at the J29. I must say it was an awesome match and this coming form someone who is not even into sports. After the game, we went for some Subs and by the time we reached back at milind’s residence it was 3.30 p.m.

Now few days ago we were talking bout how annoying a billboard is, that has come up in Parra and Milind was getting very frustrated since it was the only one from Mapusa to Calangute stretch. So he had got some orange paint and Joel had got some old balloons. The idea was to fill the balloons with the paint and throw them on the billboard for it to splatter. Now I was completely unaware of this plan, and they were going to put the plan in motion at this particular night. Spontaneity being the specialty of the Popats, it was thrilled at the idea. However, the balloons were very old and they couldn’t retain the paint. So we just filled the paint in bottles and headed to the billboard with our bikes. Oh! The adrenaline was pumping like a crazy B**** on heat. With the dogs barking and vehicles passing by on the main road, it was Awesome! To our advantage, the billboard being of Spykar Jeans the models in it were wearing white pants and the art of the Popats is LEGENDARY!

Karma Screwed With Me.

by ED!Z on 12.4.08

In my previous post, I mentioned how I made Rs. 100 by drinking a horrid cocktail conjured by Joel. It wasn't the most pleasant experience, in fact I was so woozy that I don't even remember most of the night after I downed the damn thing. Anyway the entire next day I rejoiced to the part where I had extra 100 bucks to spare. Later that evening Milind, Joel, Falon (Axel's GF) and I went to the Milagres fete. Little did I know what Karma I had ins tore for me.

Now a little travel down my childhood. Back when I was like 16 yrs old, I used to go to the Milagres Fete quite often and on one occasion I happened to play this gambling game called 'Three Card Monte'. Usually the professional do this with three cards, with two being black and one red. But these rookies over here do the same with small palm sized discs. The dealer keeps showing the red while he shuffles the three. And at the end he put all three down faced downwards, and one is required to place a bet on the red one. If you guess right, the money doubles. So back then I played this game and won it. I was so happy with myself that I kept boasting about it for years to come. After that year I kept looking for these dealers with intention of making some money, but no luck.

So the other day when we went to the Milagres fete, I saw this dealer hosting the 'Three Card Monte' game. Within seconds I was drawn to the table and within less than a minute I had lost Rs. 200. WHAT THE ****. I was devastated. The guys left no mercy in making fun of me. I was so tempted to hit the ATM with the intention to recover my lost money. And did I mention… I was devastated.

So not only did karma take back the money I earned the previous day, but did so in double. A little later feeling very confident about the game Milind, Joel and Falon (oh yes! She was tempted too), decided to hit the table to make some money. And guess what… THEY LOST. Oh I was so thrilled because now I had three other suckers going through my plight. Earlier that night Falon and Joel made a mention that they would never gamble. But one look at the game and you think that you know the trick (at least the dealer makes you think so).

Now… a little fact for all you guys who might consider gambling in this game. NO ONE CAN EVR WIN. It's all a trick there are loads of videos on YouTube proving this. Its quite a lot to explain as how this trick works, but if interested then check this link for Further details:-

Goan Pina Colada Screwed with Me.

by ED!Z on 11.4.08

The other day Milind, Joel, Elvis and I considered giving a cocktail session a shot. With making it an exclusive Pina Colada session, Joel and I went to get the required ingredients and by midnight we all were set to kick off the session. As our ‘Sommelier’, we invited Sameer (Milind’s Bro) to our session. Tried couple of mixtures and we realized one thing. “The Popats definitely suck at mixing cocktails”. With continuous failure in trying to get the right mixture, all the fun was sucked right out. Now what we had was a glass of poorly mixed cocktail and no volunteer to drink it. So the respected ‘Sommelier’ placed bet of Rs. 50 to anyone who would down the entire glass in one go. Milind took up the task (after throwing in some push ups).
However, we still had like 2 tetra packs of coconut milk and some juice and white rum still left. So, I proposed the guys to bet on me Rs. 100 for drinking any ridiculous cocktail they could come up with. At this Joel, with all his excitement put on the Barman’s Hat and came up with this horrid mixture

Goan Pina Colada (Goencho Thas Thoos)

¾ glass of Coconut Milk.
2 shots of White Rum.
4 shots of Feni.
4 drops of pineapple juice… literally.
And yeah believe it or not, I did it. Of course within minutes I had a woozy headache, an upsetting stomach ache and Rs. 100 warming my pocket.

Now was the bet worth it. Hmmm…

P.S. Recipe for Pina Colada:
1-1/2 shots rum
2 ounces coconut milk
4 ounces pineapple juice
Garnish: Cherry or mint sprig
Blend with ice and garnish.
